Reflection and Meditation

Greetings,

Throughout history, leaders have been fighting conflicts from their “root chakra” and drawing from fear and desire for power, sending men in uniforms to fight wars, destroying many lives in the process. There have been “winners and losers.” But there have also been leaders, such as the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, who resisted the calls to fight with weapons, and instead fought the enemy with their hearts. The Dr. Kings of today are the men and women in another type of uniform. They are wearing scrubs.

This moment in history is teaching us that in the face of challenges that life presents to us, we must work together, with the power of our hearts. We are all One. While for many decades, countries have been divided by racism and socio-economic groups, today we all face the same challenge and we must work together to overcome it. Money can only do so much to save us. It is the power of God – the power of Love or the Spiritual power – that is within us that determines our fate. It is not division but unity that will lead us to salvation. Men and women in uniforms working in unity – military gear and scrubs alike – and countries working together in unity will resolve today’s challenges. It is all of us working together and not opposed to each other that will help us heal and prosper and solve this crisis: those who are on the front lines in ICUs and triage centers in hospitals; those delivering and restocking grocery stores; those in factories working relentlessly to produce more hand sanitizer; those working at home making masks for the community; those sending Love and Light to the world; and those who are staying at home to flatten the curve. Now, more than ever, use the energies of your heart to solve this crisis together. Let us use the peace and the love that is within us to solve this crisis together.

As reflection, we invite you to read 1 Samuel 17. An excerpt from the New International Bible is below:

1 Now the Philistines gathered their forces for war and assembled at Sokoh in Judah. They pitched camp at Ephes Dammim, between Sokoh and Azekah. 2 Saul and the Israelites assembled and camped in the Valley of Elah and drew up their battle line to meet the Philistines. 3 The Philistines occupied one hill and the Israelites another, with the valley between them.

4 A champion named Goliath, who was from Gath, came out of the Philistine camp. His height was six cubits and a span.[a] 5 He had a bronze helmet on his head and wore a coat of scale armor of bronze weighing five thousand shekels[b]; 6 on his legs he wore bronze greaves, and a bronze javelin was slung on his back. 7 His spear shaft was like a weaver’s rod, and its iron point weighed six hundred shekels. His shield bearer went ahead of him.

8 Goliath stood and shouted to the ranks of Israel, “Why do you come out and line up for battle? Am I not a Philistine, and are you not the servants of Saul? Choose a man and have him come down to me. 9 If he is able to fight and kill me, we will become your subjects; but if I overcome him and kill him, you will become our subjects and serve us.” 10 Then the Philistine said, “This day I defy the armies of Israel! Give me a man and let us fight each other.” 11 On hearing the Philistine’s words, Saul and all the Israelites were dismayed and terrified.

48 As the Philistine moved closer to attack him, David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet him. 49 Reaching into his bag and taking out a stone, he slung it and struck the Philistine on the forehead. The stone sank into his forehead, and he fell facedown on the ground.”

In the Metaphysical Bible Dictionary Charles Fillmore describes the Philistines as the forces that are not spiritual. Men use their five senses to go about life, limiting the energies they rely on to the material world, not using the spiritual energies that are available to them. We invite you to remain focused on the Spiritual aspect of yourself. Let your heart, and not your fears, inspire you to do your part to solve this crisis. Pray, meditate, call onto your Divine Self.

Today, we are happy to welcome back Rev. Teresa Bailey who will lead us in a healing meditation inspired by Psalm 91. Sit in a comfortable position, and listen to Rev. Bailey here.
